The Suzuki Flute Method follows Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s method of music education. Based on the observation that all children learn their mother tongue with ease, Suzuki believed that they could assimilate music in the same way, through constant exposure by ear to the songs they were to learn(immersion), encouragement, small steps, and an unforced timetable for learning material based on each person's developmental readiness to imitate examples, internalize principles, and contribute novel ideas.

The Suzuki Flute Method is compiled and edited by the distinguished Japanese flutist, Toshio Takahashi. It is in fourteen volumes, employing much of the Dr. Suzuki’s approach, as well as incorporating playing techniques, repertoire and interpretations from the French School of Flute, as embodied by the great performer and pedagogue, Marcel Moyse.
