We believe that singing and learning to play a musical instrument are abilities that will bring a lifetime of joy and an avenue of expression that is without compare. With that in mind, our primary goal is to guide each student into developing a positive and thriving relationship with his/her instrument. By following the Suzuki Method philosophy of music education, we focus on building a strong foundation in technique, ear training, and theory which will allow the students to pursue any avenue of musical expression they choose, as well as develop their ability to the highest level that they desire.
We believe that great music nourishes the whole person-- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, as well as the community at large. It is therefore worthwhile to give daily attention to the development of the ability to make music, even if other less worthy activities must be sacrificed. To that end, we make many efforts to motivate students to develop daily practice habits…as Dr. Shinichi Suzuki said, “Practice only on the days you eat.” Monthly group activities are planned to nurture the social aspect of music-making.
We believe that parents are the primary force that will keep music-making part of their children’s lives, regardless of “ups and downs” in a student’s relationship with his/her instrument. Parent education and regular communication with parents is therefore very important in our studio.
